Update #2: Going For It Again...And Again...And Again...And Again

TRUST...
...the transition.
...the process.
...that what is happening is right.
...that spirit and your heart know best even if the mind questions.
...that you will survive and flourish.
...that you are powerful.
...that you can create what you need.
...that it is all good.
And ACCEPT the present moment just as it is...imperfectly perfect in every way.

Hello, my friends!

My 2013 auditions for MFA acting schools begins TOMORROW!

Exciting!!!!

I just have one small favor to ask...

It would mean soooooo much to me if you would keep me in your thoughts/prayers and send me some of your positive energy and well-wishes on the following mornings...

Thursday, Jan 24 = Old Globe MFA audition
Friday, Jan 25 = NYU Grad Acting audition
Saturday, Jan 26 = Juilliard MFA audition
Sunday, Feb 3 = Yale MFA audition

All of your collective supportive thoughts make all the difference in the world. I truly believe that.

And just so you know where my head is at these days...no matter what the "outcome" of these auditions (acceptance or no) I am trusting that it'll all be for my greater good.

These past three years of NOT making it into grad school have been some of the most profoundly challenging and transformative of my life. I would not change a thing.

That said...I'm going in there and giving the universe another opportunity to open one of these doors for me. I'll keep knocking until I'm ready to move on. So for now, I'm giving it another shot!

Let's DO this!!!

Sending best wishes to everyone who is getting out there and auditioning this year! Be your brilliant selves!

XOs to all.

~Virginia

  4. Hi Virgina:

First of all, I have to thank you for this blog. I've always wanted to attend grad school but never had the guts to audition. I would always talk about it and apply, but never submit the application. And I always had an excuse, first it was my GPA wasn't good enough. The next year, it was my weight. The year after that when I lost weight, I wasn't good enough and so on. Then, sometime last year, once again overweight and depressed, I found your blog. I read your experiences and advice, and I decided this year there would be no more excuses. I've embraced who I am and what I look like. And, I know I have a lot to offer any school and if I don't make it then I can always try again next year. So next week, I'm leaving my hometown of Miami, FL to brace the cold weather of Chicago to audition for NYU, ACT,Rutgers and the URTA's. I'm excited and the most confident I have ever been in my life.I don't believe I would be this confident without your blog. So thank you. I'm wishing you all the best!!!!! :) Yay!!!!!!

  7. Dear Virginia,

Thank you for your bravery. Thank you for your wisdom. Thank you for your gorgeous words and for sharing the beautiful words of others. Thank you for having the courage to create a safe haven for hopeful artists. Thank you for your passion and your commitment. Your blog has been a constant source of inspiration for me. I wish that I could give back to you a small sparkle of what you given given me. Grad school acceptance seems so very small compared to the gigantic impact your blog has had on me and so many others.

Whether you get into a school or not, I hope that you know you are already an actress. A wonderful one. A true treasure in the artistic community. Moreover, you are a lovely person, and you already have everything you need to succeed within you.

Best of luck, may your dreams come true. You deserve nothing less.

  8. On January 26, 2013 you walked into the waiting room of Juilliard and sat next to a young black man wearing a purple scarf. The wisdom and love that you gave to him changed his life. Thank you.

    Gratefully,
    Brandon

P.S. I was eating BBQ when I thought of you.
