"Virginia is the ultimate motivator. Not only does she ask you all of the difficult questions that you are sometimes too scared or not ready to ask yourself - but she walks her own journey along side you as well...Working with Virginia was the best first step in my new ever creative life and I'm so grateful for her friendship and guidance." - Juliane Riordan (Actress)
Hi, Friends!
Are you looking for a coach?
Some of you have been contacting me with private questions and have expressed an interest in getting some more specialized feedback on any or all of the following types of questions/issues:
- I am feeling totally discouraged about my acting career and think an MFA might be the answer. Do I even want to audition for grad school?
- Can choosing monologues, please, be easier?
- I cannot narrow down this personal statement to two pages! Impossible!
- What am I supposed to wear to these things?
- What should I expect at callbacks?
- I auditioned last year and want to try again. How can I improve my chances this year?
If any of those resonate with you or you have more questions of your own, then I'd like to offer myself as a resource, a sounding-board, a believing-mirror, a champion, a coach. (Whatever you want to call it.)
:-)
I've been through the process four times myself...I've sweated through 4 years of personal statements, monologue selection, headshots, resumes, rejection, callbacks, wait lists...ya da...ya da. I've made plenty of mistakes and learned a lot along the way. So I totally feel what you're dealing with right now as you are preparing to apply to MFA acting programs.
I offer half-hour or hour-long private coaching sessions as well as personal statement feedback on a sliding scale based on your ability to pay. I don't want anyone to have to worry about contacting me because of a silly little thing like money. That said...I do have student loans from undergrad that I'd like to pay off this millennium. Soooo...your monetary support will be going to a good cause!
I hope to exceed your expectations and give you greater value for your investment than you'd anticipated.
Email me at viavirginiawilcox@gmail.com with the following:
- "SHHH! PRIVATE INQUIRY - YOUR NAME" in the subject line
- Write me a little of your backstory and what you're hoping to gain from the coaching
- Three dates/times you might be available to chat on Skype/Facetime/the phone
Our first phone call is ALWAYS free. That way we can get to know each other and see if working together will be beneficial. Can't wait to hear all about you!
This process can be very personal and can sometimes feel very isolating. But it doesn't have to be that way! I'm here for you! I really want to help you have a great experience in the audition room and feel 100% confident that you are going in there and doing your very best!
Sending all my best wishes to you on your creative path.
Loves,
Virginia
Here are some kind recommendations from some of the talented, wonderful folks who've coached with me in the past...
"Virginia Wilcox is one of the most inspiring people I know and she leads by example. Inspiring others to search for a life of passion and push yourself toward your goals as she does herself. She has a great knack at really honing in on ones source of inspiration and finding new ways to motivate and inspire you! I strongly recommend her as a coach if you are looking to make a positive change in your life." - Josh Heath (Visual Artist, Writer)
"As a coach, Virginia offers positive clarity and direction that inspires action. And Virginia KNOWS about MFA auditions! When I went through the process last year, her story reminded me that while preparation and skill are required, they are not the only factors that determine the result. I was therefore able to feel great about my audition regardless of the outcome." - Jessica Raaum (Actress)
"Virginia helped me find comfort in discomfort. With her guidance and support I was able to find the necessary freedom I needed in order to get out of my own way and be powerful. " - Abby Burke (Actress)
"Virginia is always the first person I call to help me prepare for an audition or performance. She knows how to get the most specific choices out of me. By calling bullshit when necessary, I'm able to stay truthful while having fun with the given circumstances. This gives me some peace of mind and allows me to approach any material with ease and precision." - Nick Dothee (Actor)
"Virginia Wilcox = your biggest cheerleader! She reminds you, and has done so for me on many a tearful text, phone call and coffee shop encounter, to be the best you at times when you may have misplaced yourself in this crazy, fulfilling yet sometimes overwhelming, joyous, creative thing we call a profession. If an MFA is in your sights Wilcox is THE COACH to help you get there!" - Claire Kennedy (Actress)
